Technical Project Manager/Coordinator


Summary

 

The Project Manager/Coordinator is responsible for preparing proposals designed to meet specific business requirements. In addition to proposal development, this role will perform duties associated with hardware ordering, procurement, and project scheduling\coordination. Project can range from a P2V migration, Cloud Services rollouts, Hosted Exchange Migration, physical server installations, VOIP cutovers, etc.

As such, this position requires the ability to plan projects for many different environments on many different hardware and software platforms while interacting with clients, team members and other vendors. It is important that all work be scoped out correctly, within acceptable time limits and when promised to customers. In this position, the incumbent works on his or her own with only general supervision. Working hours other than the standard weekday hours will be required from time to time. Travel is mostly local with occasional (est. 1-2 times per month) trips to other locations in NC.

Duties & Responsibilities

 

  • Research and design an solutions for a client’s business need as outlined by the Technical Advisor.
  • Plan technical projects step-by-step from the ground up for enterprise environments.
  • Ensure project efficiencies by scheduling projects according to smart numbers and goals.
  • Take direction on proposal development priority from the Technical Advisors.
  • Prepare quotes for hardware, software, labor and licensing opportunities.
  • Order\procure hardware for orders and schedule projects appropriately based on delivery time.
  • Create implementation tickets for approved projects and schedule appropriately.
  • Communicate with POC to set expectations on scheduled projects and implementation dates.
  • On projects needing multiple resources, work with Director of Operations to confirm and schedule additional resources.
  • Track projects proposed and approved using company applications.
  • Provide project forecasting numbers based on planning pipeline.
  • Participate in weekly Project meeting and maintain smart numbers tracking.
  • Participate in weekly technical meeting and prioritize changes that pertain to professional services.
  • Serve as technical backstop for support escalation tickets and issues.
  • Provides technical support and training to clients on implemented projects.
  • Provides timely verbal and written communications as required with clients, vendors and staff.
  • Ensures a high level of customer satisfaction.
  • Continues to improve technical and customer service skills through continuing education and certifications.
  • Builds relationships with the operations/technical staff of key customers.
  • Ensures all documentation is properly maintained and updated in a timely manner.
  • Coordinates third-party vendors when necessary.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5-7 years experience in a closely related position doing technical project planning
  • Detailed oriented and strong ability to multi-task
  • Track record of achievement and demonstrated ability to overcome obstacles
  • Willingness to be continually challenged and learn from mistakes
  • Maintain in-depth industry product knowledge including Microsoft Windows Server and Workstation Operating Systems, Active Directory, VMware, Server Hardware, industry standard laptop and desktop computer technology, wireless technology, mobile devices, and LAN and WAN devices including routers, switches, and firewalls.
